Free Screening of 20 Days in Mariupol in Daugavpils – Marking the Third Anniversary of the Invasion

On February 24, for the first time – a free screening of the documentary 20 Days in Mariupol will take place in Daugavpils, organized by the New East Cultural Institute. The event is dedicated to the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The film captures the first weeks of the war through the eyes of journalists who remained in the besieged city of Mariupol. It was created by director and photographer Mstyslav Chernov, photographer Evgeniy Maloletka, and producer and journalist Vasilisa Stepanenko. They were the last journalists documenting the beginning of Russia’s destruction of Mariupol. Under siege, they continued their work, capturing footage that later became defining images of the war—children dying, mass graves, the bombed maternity hospital, and other horrific Russian war crimes.
